Ceramics Class

I was looking forward to class this week.  I'm getting used to it I guess, so not as nervous.

Here's Erick's maneki neko.  He kept complaining that it looked like a snowman, but we all thought that it was cute.

Here are Cleta's platters.  She was absent last week so didn't get to paint then.  So pretty, except I splattered the right one with rust-colored water.  Gaaaawd!  ðŸ˜©

Geri's plates.  Cool, right!?  She did the right one with a textured roller.

Here's mine.  Do you know what it is?  ðŸ˜†

It's supposed to come out to something like this.  It's a portable cigar ash tray.  For Landon.

Here's my finished glazed cup.  It ended up being so small.  LOL.  The colors turned out different from what I expected, and I didn't realize the bottom part would be matte.  But I don't hate it.

Here's my bowl.  The one that I had issues with last week.  Let’s just say that it’s not a fave.

And my wind chime.  I love how the colors came out.

If you click on the photo below you can watch (and hear) the chime in action.

Everyone is so artistic! I love the sound of your wind chime. It takes me back to the summer days spent at my Baachan and Jiichan’s house in Ewa. They had a wind chime and the sound is so soothing and cooling to me.

i'm glad you immediately explained what Landon's cigar holder was. I was about to guess urinal/squat potty. Sorry!
Everything came out so nice. I actually like that cup with the bare clay bottom.
Keep on going!

J, everyone's pieces looks so nice. I love your wind chime! What an idea! Eric's definitely does not look like a snowman. It looks like a maneko. I worked with a gal who did this and was in the Kailua guild and won prizes. She too was unsatisfied with her gorgeous pottery and one day lugged them to work to surprise me with it! So even professional artists are unsatisfied with their work. She pointed out all the defects and I only saw perfection. They're still proudly displayed, especially knowing they were created by someone I knew. A reminder of her. So don't be hard on yourselves. -N
