My sister Geri made this super ono salad. I ate the left half of the container before I thought to take a picture. Here's what's left of the salad.
1 or 2 “heads” of broccoli
About 1 red onion (you can use white onions, but red is preferable)
Dried cranberries – aka “Craisins” (can substitute raisins, and some people use grapes, as many as you like)
Roasted salted sunflower seeds (as many as you like)
Crumbled bacon (about as much as you like: if you use the “Hormel Precooked/precrumbled” package, about ½ a package is plenty.
Dressing: 1 cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup sugar, 1 tbs. red wine vinegar, adjust the sugar and vinegar as needed
The dressing will make enough for about 1 ½ recipes, but the leftovers keep well in the refrigerator.

Looks SO ono! Reminds me of Whole Food's Broccoli surprise or supreme dish in their deli section - $13/lb - so expensive! Delicious though, and very healthy. They don't even bother to chop up the broccoli.
Maybe I'll make this - seems like something I could tackle.
Mahalo to Geri!
Oh that looks good!
j: GMTA - I found a similar recipe online last week and made it and we loved it! The dressing is exactly the same but the recipe called for cauliflower too. I parboiled the broc and cauli. since I don't like the raw taste. We loved it so much I'm making it again tonight, and it keeps very well in the refrig. Super easy and soooo delish. I'm gonna add sour cream since I have some. -N
So funny...was thinking ho da healthy...then saw I cup of mayo!!!!! It must be to slide down the veggies;)
$13/lb, Aunty! That IS expensive!
It was good, Mich. Maybe I might even try make um . . . or YOU could . . . hmmmmmm?
Ooooh, parboiling sounds good too, N!
AND sugar too, Anon! No wonder I liked it.
yum yum yum....isn't this the best salad ever!?!?!
Totally, Les!
Ha ha ha, I love your 'about measurement' salad! I have everything except broccoli. I should get some tomorrow. Sounds delicious and very simple.
I wish I had some of this salad right now, Akemi!
I love sweet dressings and grapes in my salad! Usually ppl don't touch green salads but when you add apples, pineapple tidbits, mango to it, it gets eaten : )
lots of ono stuff in there. Thanks for sharing.
Susan, I love fruits in my salad too. Wendell thinks it's gross. LOL!
You're welcome, Erick!
Where do you get the sunflower seeds? Went to Walmart, safeway and longs they didn't have it in stock.
I gotta ask Geri, Renee. Will let you know.
Renee, Geri said any super market....usually by the baked goods section....by the peanuts, walnuts.....etc.
Thank you Jalna!
Welcome, Renee!!
