After visiting the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival we boarded the bus and headed to the Okurayama Ski Jump.
This is Ikuko, our local Japanese guide. She was awesome . . . very informative and very entertaining.
This is the escalator to the ski lift area . . . a bit of an icy walk from the parking lot to get there. One member from our group . . . a guy . . . slipped and fell in the parking lot.
Melon/vanilla soft serve . . . totally yummy.
View of Sapporo City.
We arrived at our hotel in Sapporo, the Century Royal Hotel, in the late afternoon. After a quick tour of the JR Station and a rather disappointing conveyor belt sushi snack we picked this up from the Daimaru Department Store basement level and took it back to our rooms for a leisurely dinner.
Next: Overnight stay in Otaru

Thanks for the goodies! Kalin loved the candy!
awesome! I've never seen a ski jump area before, cool!
Ooooh, glad he liked the candy, Mich. Sorry, I ate one from each. LOL!!
It was neat to view it from the top, Kat.
Seems the best times are snacking and looking for more snacks and snacking again until it's dinner time ! the joys of traveling yeah? At least we can read and not get the calories;)
HAHA! "I ate one from each." I don't blame you. You had to make sure wasn't poison before giving it away, right? Looks like you guys had a great time. And I too LOL'd while reading your WE'RE BAAAACK post. Would've made a good I Love Lucy episode. Funny but good thing nothing more than pride got hurt. Welcome home!
OMG Anon. I gained 4 pounds and I'm still gaining from eating all the stuff I brought back.
Thanks Al, and you're right . . . had to make sure the candy was okay.
Jalna....
I was just going to ask if everyone could fit in their airplane seats on the way home after all of those good eats!
.....LOL!
Mark, me and my sisters keep eating ramen after ramen trying to recapture the taste from Hokkaido. Clothes getting tight.
Cool place. Where is the shot of you ski jumping?
LOL . . . no more, Erick! Maybe next time.
Your stash you gave me is quickly dwindling...i'm trying not to eat it but I can't help myself!! That's an awesome view of the city :)
Our stash at home is practically gone too, Les. We only got the condiment-kine stuff left.
