So Thoughtful

IMG_9229

Sweetie and I opted to share a ramen at this place in the basement level of Daimaru Department Store on Shinsaibashi in Dotonbori.  We weren't really that hungry, but I remembered that it was so ono when Wendell and I tried it back in February.

After I placed my order, the gal confirmed with me. She pointed at the picture of the ramen and raised one finger. Then pointed at the picture of the water and raised two fingers. I said yes.

Our beeper buzzed when our order was ready.  I went to the counter, and without my even asking, on the tray was an extra bowl and spoon and two chopsticks.

The Japanese are SO efficient and customer oriented

The Japanese on a whole are very polite. But perhaps because of the surge in tourists, last year when we were there, the 7-11 that was below the hotel we stayed at, the Japanese clerks seemed exasperated and were a bit impolite, but if we tried to speak to them in Japanese you could see their demeanor change a bit. I don’t blame them , there were a number of selfish tourists everywhere.

Japan is the ultimate in customer service - and they refuse tips! Unreal wonderful.

That's what makes Japan so endearing.

Hi Jalna. It’s Patty. Were you in Osaka again?

jalna said...

Wow.

Patty! Yes! And Wakayama (ume capital of the world LOL). Panda called it a "leisure" tour. I think leisure meant only two hotels. We still did choke walking. The Osaka portion was kinda similar to ours, but the Panda tour guide canceled Osaka Castle because most of the members of the group had already been there (Yay!!) and he added on Kuromon Market. Also we stayed at the Hotel Monterey Grasmere with a room three times bigger than Agora's and a way better buffet.

They do try to be nice even when they’re inundated with tourists.

Choke tourists. Seems like more Europeans this time than Chinese from years back.
