Kashiwa Mochi

This is Kashiwa Mochi.  It's made and eaten during the Children's Day celebration time.  Geri bought it at Marukai and started eating it as soon as we got into the car.

When I got home I looked up "Kashiwa Mochi" and found a recipe. Look at what it says about the leaf.

I couldn't stop laughing after I read it because I'm the one that told Geri that she's supposed to eat the leaf. And she listened. Because I'm older. And wiser. Hahahaha!

Jenny, I started to eat the leaf too, but had hard time with the stringy stuff. So I peeled that off and then ended up peeling off the whole leaf.

N, that's why more I thought you're supposed to eat it . . . because it's hard to take off.

You see, Kat, that's what I was thinking . . .

So smart, Mich.

J: btw I'd love to make that mochi too, looked up the recipe but oak leaves? We no more oak in Hawaii as far as I know. To me the leaf imparts that lovely fragrance to the mochi -N

Ummm... I was wondering about the leaf. :-) Too funny! And no, I've never eaten it. I love the sakura mochi best though.

I've never had the sakura mochi, Kay. I'll get it the next time I'm at Marukai.
