The people we encountered in Kyushu were so sweet and friendly. It made the trip especially enjoyable.
I met a young man named Gurung Bahadur at a Family Mart near our hotel in Hakata. He and the gal working with him were both from Nepal. He said that he had been in Japan for 3 years and was a student. I congratulated him and wished him a blessed future life. He invited me to visit him in Nepal someday. We exchanged email addresses. I told him about my blog and later that evening he put a comment on one of my posts.

This note is from a cashier in the Loft in Tenjin. As she was checking out my purchases I asked her where I might find a taxi stand. She drew me this map, carefully explained it to me and even left her station so that she could show me which exit to take. If she should ever come to Hawaii I hope that the people she meets here are as gracious to her as she was to me.

Such nice people! Of course - it is because you are such a nice and kind person.
Yes! People in Japan are very polite and gracious. But while we were in Tokyo there were a few places the clerks were a bit cold, but I think it was because of the surge in foreign tourists that was so overwhelming to them. Funny, when we spoke to them in our broken Japanese or used Google translate and they became more helpful. LOL . We noticed that majority of tourists there expected the workers to speak and understand English.

Japan people go out of their way to walk you to wherever. Amazing! I remember a woman walking us around Shibuya Station when we came out the opposite exit. Also in Yokohama, a man closed up his shop to walk us to the correct street. You really gotta carry little mac nuts or choco macs to hand out!
Google maps don't always show you plus it reads the kanji street signs and starts talking in Chinese!!! LOL

so nice!
You were in Japan too? That's great! It seems as though all my friends were in Japan this spring. Actually we were there for a pretty long trip too. How wonderful that you met such a nice guy. We do meet the most wonderful people when we travel there.
That why we travel, to connect with humanity. We're social beings. What a awesome story. Our hotel Ryokan had Indonesian wait help at our dinners. They were so nice.
Awwww, thanks!
Osaka was kinda like that, but I don't blame them, especially when they're super busy and are not being understood.
I agree about giving out Hawaii treats.
Super nice!
The yen rate is so good for us, it seems a shame not to go there and spend money. LOL.
Indonesian!! How cool is that!
