New Bowl for Kona

A couple of years ago I bought a fancy bowl for Kona. It's designed so that he would eat his food more slowly.  You can check it out here if you like.

Kona will be 13 years old next month. He just had his yearly vet visit, and everything checked out okay, but lately has been needing some coaxing to eat his meals.

So while I was at City Mill yesterday looking at their clearance deals (thanks Honolulu Aunty), I bought him a regular bowl. Never mind the other one already.

maybe if you sit with him he’ll eat faster/more :)

Kona is about the same age as my granddog. You're a great mommy to Kona.

j: wow Koa is old - esp for a big dog! Maybe like us they lose their sense of taste as we age. I never had fussy dogs until I got my two small ones - they free feed becuz otherwise they DO NOT eat when I serve them so I gave up. They eat when they feel like it though of course I let always have my food too. Spoiled brats! I'm glad Koa is healthy obviously you've taken good care of him. Live LONG Koa! - N

So does he still eat too fast? Our little dog is 11 and slowing down. So I make his food more delicious by putting some meat in the bowl and adding hot/warm water to make a small amount of broth, then add the dry food.

Doggies are just too wonderful.

Kat, I actually do. He seems to like it when I hold it at just the right angle for him.

Thanks Kay.

Chet, LOL. It does, yah!

N, thanks!

Susan, hahaha.

Aunty, he actually doesn't gobble down his food like he used to. I never thought to make some broth for him. I'll try.

j: if you like make a healthy broth - I save all the water from when I cook like when ground beef leeches out the water and it has those tasty beef bits too - also if I make something like a stew take a bit of that out and put in a glass bowl then refrig any leftovers. Of course when I cook the two are underfoot waiting for dropped pieces so I put whatevah broth I have let it chill and let them slurp it up. I mean they are PICKY dogs so they ain't gonna eat it with their dog food - just gonna get soggy dog food that I need to toss out-N

we hand fed mick when she got picky and didn't want to eat :-). She finished her food everytime. I think she was just being stubborn and spoiled though. She knew we were pushovers!
