The Fishing Pole

These were supposed to be preliminary test sketches, but I got too lazy to redraw them so here they are. The first picture is a dog . . . in case you can't tell.

When I was around 18 years old or so I asked my dad if I could borrow one of his fishing poles. Unfortunately, before I could return it to him my dog, Ashes, broke it . . . in two.  Actually his leash got tangled around the pole, but it was easier to draw it in his mouth.

Being the resourceful person that I am, and because I didn't wanna get busted I decided to try and repair the pole. I used wire, string and glue, and HOLY MOLY, I did such a good job that you couldn't even tell that it was once broken. In fact, since it was now even better than good as new, I didn't tell my dad anything.

Only thing . . . the next time my dad took the pole out, he said that on his first cast, the top half went sailing out into the ocean. He said that he was so shame.

But . . . he was laughing the whole time he was telling me the story. Love you Daddy.

That is such a cute story. I once broke a rather expensive pole of Guy's - the tip part that just could not be repaired. So, I hid it, for years. He probably knew that something was up but allowed me the deception and seemed to forget about the pole after awhile.

Sorry, Guy. But I know you forgive me.
