Wendell's Surume Snack

Here's Wendell's latest favorite snack.

I bought this at Keeaumoku market. It was on sale for around $15.  There are 3 squid in the pack.

Wendell brushes on a concoction of shoyu, mirin and tabasco sauce.

I think he meant to do this first, but he forgot.

He broils it for "real short".  He said he doesn't like it too dry.

Kona likes it too. He gets the tentacles.

Mmmmm. Stinky and chewy, yum yum yum! I was so happy to find those red squid legs at Marukai, and also at the Collectible Show from a vendor who was selling stinky seafood stuff. For awhile, nevah have, and now they are available again.

Somehow though, they are harder and not as big. Ah well. Makes me eat only a couple of legs at a time and drink green tea.

Looks ono; especially with beer. Ate a lot of tako in Japan. Had it as appetizer served in ponzu sauce.

I love that marinate! But yeah, hard for me too...and brush Kona's teeth after...hehe

That looks onolicious...but I don't really care for dried cuttlefish or squid or tako anymore. My jaws get tired. LOL

j: ohhhh I miss that kine food. I loved that all, esp. when growing up every mom and pop carried those. Loved the red tako ones that turn everything in contact red. Was all kusai kine ITA. I long to eat the tako legs but oh heck I'll take anything. Dang seafood allergies. ggrrr -N

N, I loved the red ones too! Too bad about your allergy.

We used to buy this from the local mom and pop store when I was a kid, it used to be cheap. Great snack.
