Bird Poop Caterpillar

I used to see these caterpillars on my citrus plants. They look like bird poop.

I haven't seen them recently. These photos were taken around six months ago.

Wouldja believe they end up looking like this just before turning into a cocoon? It's a Citrus Swallowtail caterpillar.

Thanks for the info, L!!

No kidding? I've never seen that. I haven't seen many leaf bites on the lemon tree, only the tangerine.

Looks beautiful! But you don't mind that they eat your leaves?

Cool! :) We have a little guy like that in a jar right now. We used to always pick the eggs and caterpillars off our tree. I hated that they were eating up and killing my new, young Cara cara orange tree! Finally we let one caterpiller grow up for my son and it was so pretty as a butterfly! Now we pick off the caterpillars as soon as we find them and put them in a jar. But we feed it leaves from our old lemon tree that I don't care about. Sometimes though it's stubborn and will go on a hunger strike until I give it a young leaf from my orange tree. If it doesn't eat for a day or so, I usually give in and cut a leaf for it. -L

I don't get them too often, Kay.

So pretty yah the green caterpillar, Kat.

I've been wanting to capture one, Aunty, but haven't seen another one lately. I was planning to feed it leaves from our tangerine tree.

So cute, L!!
