I took these photos awhile back. They're of a couple tsukemono that I got from Marukai. I think they're both narazuke made with sake lees. I don't remember how much they cost. I think this one is made from white melon . . . I'm not too sure.
This is what it looks like. I didn't like these small-kid-time, but now I do.
Tastes so good with rice, yeah? I really like the takuan from Aja - that bento place in the Ala Moana food court. Sweet yet salty and spicy. SO good with rice too!
i wonder if i can get these imported from a website some how. I love trying new foods. One of my bucketlist foods to try is Fugu. But when i saw this on a japanese drama i knew i had to try them. By the way the show is Hanazakari no Kimitachi e.

I have no idea what this is. I've never seen it before. Is it like pickled fruit? That's all I can think of.
too strong tasting for me:(
I love Aja's stuff, Aunty.
Mark, it's Japanese pickles vegetables.
Maybe you too young dat's why, Kat. LOL. I only developed a liking to narazuke after I got old.
These look really aged. I googled "narazuke". So do they taste "alcoholic?"
They kinda do, Susan.
