Bac Nam

Coworker Bien offered to pick up lunch for us from his favorite Vietnamese restaurant Bac Nam to celebrate Michele's birthday a few weeks ago. So nice, yah!  It was my first time trying food from there.

Here is Mich's BBQ Shrimp/Spring Roll Vermicelli ($10.95).

Bien's HUE's Spicy Beef Soup ($9.50). Bien said that it's his faaaavorite . . .

especially eaten with this bread. He bought several loaves to share. ($1.75)

My Tofu Curry ($9.95). I liked it.

It didn't come with rice. Rice is separate ($1.50).

Vietnamese Steamed Dumplings ($8.50), the menu said "marinated shrimp, pork and onions", but it was more like a dried shrimp/pork filling . . . not what I was expecting. It tasted good, but don't know if I would order it again.

Thanks again Bien and Jalna! I loved the family style, at least I got to try different things that I would never have ordered.

ooooo! I love Bac Nam and they make the best beef stew (but I tell them no tendons). I also go to Chinatown and buy the beef stew starter and make my own. Very easy.Make a huge pot and freeze half for another day. In fact, just made a batch!

Yum!!! He knows what to order - I love Vietnamese beef stew. Sometimes I get it from Super Pho on Waialae Avenue. I used to get it from Ba-le that was in Kahala Mall next to Kozo Sushi but they vacated, boohoo.
Funny that Hale Vietnam doesn't have the stew. But they sure have good pho...
You make me hungry.

I love Vietnamese food!
Have you tried Diem Cafe at Ward Warehouse?
My coworker said the Beef Stew is good.
Don't order the Stuffed Tofu w/porkhash....It was different than what I had expected.

You're welcome, Mich. I love family style too!

Ooooh V, that's how . . . make planny and freeze.

He drove, Les.

For real, right, Susan!

Aunty, I never knew about the stew until Bien told me.

I never tried there, Mmiissee. I think I'll check it out next time I'm there.

Very nice, Kat!

Can I share my Lunch Wagon story just for fun? Back in the 1980's a Lunch Wagon man asked me if he could park his lunch wagon on my back parking lot of my Marsh Company warehouse in Kalihi. He offered to pay me. I said I don't want your money. But if you give all of my employees 50% off on their meals you can park here for free! And he did! I sent a memo to my 110 employees, so they would know how to get 50% off on their lunch. Then one day he was gone. Now that was a sad day! I really missed that good guy! My God da food was Ono!
