The Best Natto

According to Honolulu Aunty, we should all eat natto, and after I read her article The Power of Natto, I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately, my nose is situated right above my mouth, and my eyes are situated right above my nose.  And those two senses have prevented me from partaking in even one single natto bean.

When my sister Geri ate natto for the first time and declared that she liked it, I began to think that maybe there is a difference in the brands of natto. Maybe there is a brand that's better tasting than others. Geri got her natto from a breakfast buffet in Japan.  I just have to find a good one here.

I searched online and found this video. This is The Best Natto, according to this guy.

The guy is so funny.  I watched the video several times 'cause he had me cracking up.

"no no no no . . . side side slide"

"important point - litoru mix, litoru mix"

"hado mix . . . no no no no"

"brrrrrr . . . *cough* *cough*"

soooooo funny, da guy!!!!!!

I cannot eat natto, too stink :0. But there are "niowanatto" natto that doesn't have strong smell. I also heard if you mix it with Kim chee it is easier to eat, but I'm scared to try...

hmmmmm; interesting. i didn't realize most of the stuff she wrote about; maybe i should give it a try; there must be versions of it where it doesn't smell very much; maybe mixing it with something else, like chili???

I watched the video in the link you provided Rand. So funny . . . "ear wax flavor". Kat says there's a milder smelling natto called "niowanatto".

Hiya Jalna,

Mahalo for the mention! Natto is really good for the health - I use it when I get a headache. However, I cannot handle it in the stinky slimy natural format, so I use Nattokinese - capsule form.

Still, Natto Man really made it seem SO OISHIII! And SO funny! Maybe I'll try it.... But then again, maybe not.

Nattokinese. Thanks again, Aunty. Good to know. I'll go pick up some.

I ask the same question, Erick.

I agree, Les.

I think it's great video. And it's very funny! However, he is doing one thing wrong - I saw a Japanese show about how to eat natto the collect way. In the segment, one scientist discovered that you need to stir the natto for at least 50 times to unleash the natto power! I always stir for that many sometimes more with a handy natto stirring (magic) wand.

Sorry Akemi but . . . EWWWWWWWW!!!!
