Eyeliner

When you get to be of a certain age and your skin gets all loose and wrinkly, maintaining a youthful appearance can be quite challenging.  Me?  I've more or less given up.  No matter what I do, I still look the same . . . old.

BUT, I'm still clinging on to eyeliner and eyeshadow.  The problem now is that I can end up looking like a raccoon at the end of the day when the eyeliner color starts smudging into the wrinkly skin under my eyes.  My favorite eyeliner used to be a Shu Uemura refillable pencil but they discontinued it.  Bah. I like Clinique's eyeliner cake too, but it's humbug 'cause you gotta use a wet brush to moisten it.

A week or so ago, me and Geri bought this eyeliner from Marukai (our new favorite hangout).  The few words I can read are "natural", "tea color", "waterproof",  but mostly the "24h" is what sold me. Plus it's made like the Shu Uemura pencil that I liked. It was $19.

I love it.  I would give it 5 stars except Geri doesn't like it.  She said that there's nothing left of it by the end of the day.  Maybe you need really old, dry skin for the liner to adhere on to like I have. Mine stays on all day and barely smudges.

Aloha Jalna: it's not your eyes or your skin...which btw are the same as mines give or take a few months. It's that those products don't last 24 hours nor does it remain as nice as when you first put in on in the a.m. They all smudge, they all run and they all get creased with oils and whatever things our body does that we don't know about. I've tried various 24 hour stuff and I just would end up buying the revlon line that is suppose to last (which it doesn't). If it ain't gonna last, let it be the cheapest one so that I don't feel ripped off. Even the lipsticks never last. I gave up on make up after high school, I wear it when I work but otherwise I can do without it. I'm not one to reapply after lunch or every few hours, I'm there to work not look beautiful.
What I really want to know is what age can I give up the B R A. Can't stand them either. When do I become old enough that I'm only identified as an old lady and can let the girls swing free under my clothes. I'm still old enough to care but as soon as I'm home. FREEDOM, baby, freedom. My mom who is 86 still wears them btw. -N

Good one, Jalna! I use the Bare Essencials powder eyeliner with dry brush just because it doesn't "pull" at my dry wrinkly eye skin, but it is kinda not so bold and dark enough, imo.

I used to really like Estee Lauder's eye pencil because it used to glide on and stay pretty long, but I don't know if they still make it.

Have been thinking about having my eyeliner tatooed on like my pals Fay and Jisa, but am a little bit chicken. They love it - so easy in the morning because they don't have to do anything!

Maybe when I am 90 years old I'll stop wearing makeup. Then, I going jump out from corners and scare young people, lol!

I used to also use one by Maybelline that was swivel type, I have been using an eye pencil by MUJI lately, kinda good.

LOL, thanks, Akemi.

Aunty, I really like how Fay's eyeliner tattoo looks too, but am waaaaay to chicken to try. And Aunty, I doubt you'll EVER stop looking good.

LOL Erick.

Ooooh thanks Kat. I'll look into it.

aieyahhh...too bad you didn't pick up your Shu Uemura when you were in Japan. The girl at Sephora told me they no longer sell it in the US and they only sell it in Japan now... :( Not sure if it's true but they don't sell it at Sephora anymore!

I like Maybelline gel liner. It comes with a brush, and you no need wet 'em. It stays on pretty well for me, and I have oily eyelids. Other kind eyeliners all smudge off at the end of the day.
