3-Minute Mochi

This is the most amazing recipe ever.  Geri's mother-in-law whipped this mochi up in minutes just before Geri dropped it off at my house.  It was still warm . . . and it was so good that me and Aunty finished it all off in no time.  Here's the recipe.

Microwave 3/4 cup water, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp. oil in plastic bowl for 2 minutes.
Add 3/4 cup mochiko; stir with plastic spoon until all combined (less than 30 seconds).
Microwave for 20 seconds
Stir and pour on saran wrap. Prepare as desired.

These have chunky peanut butter in um!

I have never made mochi, but seeing this recipe, I want to try it, but with fillings such as the Kauai flying saucer filling, or a slice of Portuguese sausage, or something other than sweet stuff like an or peanut butter. Has anyone ever tried that before? Do you think it would be good?

Yay Mich. Now gotta find that date bar recipe!

Hi Geoff!! These were taken with my 100mm macro. It's one of my favorite lenses . . . so versatile. I pretty much use all of my lenses, Geoff. I choose which one depending on the situation. I'll let you know if I ever decide to sell.

Hey Lorna. I never thought anything but a sweet filling would be good, but after tasting some spicy Korean dishes with mochi in um, I think now that maybe it might be a good idea. What's Kauai flying saucer filling?

It was "Yummy", Renee!

Easy enough for me too, Jenny! LOL!

Ooooohhhh, I got some nutella that my nephew left at my house, Kat.

I loooove mochi too, Kay!

Me too Rand.

Hahaha Didi.

Jalna: Kauai has these "flying saucers" that are sold at the bon dances, some school carnivals, etc., but it's like a hamburger mixture (kind of like sloppy joe only with a little sugar added), put between 2 slices of bread w/ American cheese (a quarter of a slice), and grilled in those long-handled grilling thingamajigs over a flame. They are awesome. I have to buy like about 10 at each bon dance, freeze them, and let my son (who lives on Oahu) take them back to Hnl following a visit. Ccome to one of the Kauai bon dances that sells flying saucers and you won't regret it!

this looks good! and easy.. gotta give it a try! thanks for sharing the recipe!

Waibu, I never knew it could be done so easily too. You use a plastic spoon and also cut with a plastic knife because the mochi won't stick to it.

Lorna, that sounds so awesome! I only went to Kauai once a loooong time ago. It might be worth it to take another visit during bon dance season . . . which is soon yah!

Good luck Shun Wah!

OMG Anon . . . I've been dieting for the past 3 months. Haven't had mochi in all that time. Mochi is one of my favorite things, and your suggestion sounds soooo ono to me.
