This year, Special Olympics Hawaii introduced a one-day Young Athlete Program at the State Summer Games this past weekend. The Young Athlete Program is designed to introduce activities that help with the development of motor skills and socialization through play. Parents were invited to bring a child between two-and-a-half to five years of age, with or without an intellectual disability. It was free and all participants received a Young Athlete Program Mattel T-shirt and healthy snacks.
After spending some time with the cute little kiddies I went to check out the track and field and swimming events. I only lasted for a little while before I got pooped out. I left a little after Erick arrived. Make sure to check out his photos.
