Holo Holo with Wendell

I had to take my car in to Toyota this past Saturday for some recall thing so I had the pleasure of spending the day with Wendell *ahem*.

Eugene Miyoshi helped check me in.  I thought it was so cool that he's into recycling.

Wendell dropped off Aunty at Daycare and then met me at Toyota.  He's been using Landon's truck lately because it's the only one of our vehicles that Aunty with her mumu shoulder can climb into and get out of easily.  Problem is the air conditioner compressor gets disengaged every time he turns off the engine and he gotta whack it back into place before heading off anywhere. I laughed so loud watching him do this that it drew the attention of one of the mechanics.  He said that probably the air gap needs to be narrowed.  He said that the space is probably too wide and the magnet's not strong enough to attract the doomahichi. Yup, that's exactly what he said.

We went to Nico's first.

We made it just in time for breakfast.

No, I didn't get any of this.

This is my mini Loco Moco.

This is Wendell's Portuguese Sausage and Eggs.  His over-easy egg grossed me out. When he busted it up, it was runny like hanabata.

And talk about gross.  This was in Chinatown.

Wonder if this is any good.

I got this at a Vietnamese store.  I just loooooove it.  The dark, reddish-colored rice on the bottom is glutinous like mochi rice. The yellow stuff is some kind of bean, I think.  There's also coconut, peanuts and shuga on top. What's shuga?   Okay, okay, it's sugar.  I was trying to disguise it to make it appear less fattening.

Remember this from the Collector's Expo?   I'm hooked on it. I found the one store that sells it in Chinatown.  Hoo hoo!!  20 calories each piece . . . not THAT bad, right?

The time went by fast and before we knew it Eugene called to say that my car was pau. Yay!

Anything special about Nico's loco moco? Hamburger tasty? Gravy tasty? Worth going there for it? I'm a loco moco addict. Still looking for a good one. LoL!!! -lance

Hey Lance! The loco moco was mostly good for me. The gravy was tasty. You can order it with brown rice which I did. The flavor of the hamburger itself was also good, but I usually like the texture of my hamburger more bready than meaty. I would say it's worth going there for. Wendell said it can get crowded though, so best to go early.

I didn't know they were legal to sell for consume.

Also, I wonder what do they do with the rest of the body if they only eat the legs? It's like going for waste. Poor thing the frogs.

I showed Kalin the frogs and he knew exactly where that was!

Nico's is good, especially if they had the creme brulee cheesecake! Yum!

I'm like you. Like the "old school" style hamburger with bread and other things inside, not the "all meat" style. Hard to find "old school" nowadays. -lance

I was just going to ask about the loco moco, then read Lance's comment at the top!
A few of us girls have Loco Moco Meetings and are on the search for the best! Our last journey was to Eggs N Things Ala Moana location and the Hawaiian Loco Moco was sooo good! Got mushrooms, onions, and portuguese sausage! yum
