Blazin Steaks Atkinson

Good friend Mano Nguyen hooked me up with Keone Gaspar, new owner of Blazin Steaks Atkinson. Keone is a McKinley High School graduate and super, super nice guy, always hard at work Monday through Saturday 7 a.m to 9 p.m. and on Sundays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you're ever in the neighborhood, or even if you're not, go say hi to Keone and check out his awesome grinds.

Here's one of his newest items Steak Baked Potato, so new Keone wasn't sure of the price . . . "$4.75, no, no, make it $4.50". You better go now while it's still $4.50! Hahaha. Doesn't that look so ono???!!!
IMG_3965a

Here's Keone. He reminds me of some actor . . . dunno the name. He's buff too so no mess around with him.

Opakapaka - $6.00. Keone usually puts a sauce on the opakapaka, but I wanted to show you this picture. It was so moist and tender that when I tried to move it for a better angle it kinda busted up on me.

OMGAWWWWD, this was soooo ono. This was my lunch (for you guys who are watching MY diet, I ate half). It's a Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Deluxe - $7.50. It comes with garlic fries and I swear Keone must've fried the onions or the buns in butter or something, because it was totally EVIL!

Preparing for Oscar Night

Tonight was the Second Annual Oscar Night Party celebration thrown by some of the gals from my working place. How fun is dat yah!!! I am soooo not one to get all gussied up, but I ended up with paparazzi duty when Leslie realized she couldn't make it to the party. It was a total blast. I loved photographing my coworkers in all their finery.

Tonight's pictures are just a prelude to the red-carpet shots that I'll post in a day or two. No more time to go through them tonight. Stay tuned . . . you might even see yours truly on the red carpet!!

Karaage Chicken

Actually this is leftover next day Karaage Chicken that Wendell had made the day before. I loooved it. He got the recipe from NHK World.

IMG_1834

After I looked at the recipe I had to ask Wendell to explain it to me 'cause I thought it was vague. He didn't think it was vague at all.

You marinate the chicken in a ginger soy sauce mixture for about 10 minutes. Then you dunk in a SEPARATE egg/flour/potato starch mixture before frying. You don't add the egg, flour and potato starch into the same bowl with the chicken like I thought it was saying.

Karen

Coworker Karen is extremely camera shy. So I was pretty surprised when she agreed to pose for me for a calendar that I'm trying to put together for my working place.

IMG_2871a

I've always loved Karen's eyes, and I told her that I would try to focus on them.

IMG_2906a

We were downstairs of my office building with Karen sitting above some plants. The leaves reflected a greenish glow onto her face . . .

IMG_2912a

and for the briefest of moments Karen thought of her mom who had recently passed away. Her eyes glistened, and I knew I had my shot.

Shanon and Brandon

Shanon and Brandon are getting married on 11/11/11!! So special yeah! We met this past Sunday at Kakaako Park for their engagement shoot. Thick clouds covered up any hope of a beautiful sunset, but I was thankful that at least it didn't rain. Thanks Shanon and Brandon! I had a great time. Maybe we can try again on another day for our sunset shot.
