You Make Me Happy

One other thing that me and Les like to do besides take pictures is rubber stamping. Photography kinda took over my life, though, and my greeting card supply is now sorely depleted. I bought this You Make Me Happy stamp set awhile back 'cause I thought it was so cute, but I never even used it. I decided to use it yesterday and do some stamping. Plus, I recently cleared up my dresser top so I now have a spacious work area to use in the best lit room in the house, the bedroom.



This is my finished card. I totally stole the idea from Kiemel4 at Splitcoast Stampers.


I like to make a bunch so that busting out all the supplies is worth it.


I bought this carpet tape at the swap meet years and years ago for about a buck. Good deal yeah!


I cut it into little pieces . . .


and use it like so, to help give some dimension to the flower.


This is the start of the tag.

I put a green and yellow trim on the tag. I eyeballed and cut it out with a scissors.



The good thing about making handmade stuff is it doesn't have to be perfect . . . it's handmade . . . so eyeballing is okay.

This will be the trim on the left side.



Attach a ribbon to the trim.


Attach your tag to the ribbon with another ribbon.


Glue to card.


And Voila!!!


Don't you just feel like making yourself a bunch of cards now??!!!

Ailey - 6 Months Old

Ailey's 6-month birthday was yesterday. I wanted to fuss around with my new umbrella (thank you Ros) and light stand (thank you Yosh) so we met up at Grandma Fay's house. I also brought my old smaller lighting gear with me thinking that I'd set up two umbrellas, but Leslie's infamous words rang true, "We don't even know what we're doing with ONE setup and we're gonna use TWO?" and so it never even left its bag. Ailey had just awoken from a nap and was the perfect model . . . so sweet and happy.

This Morning's Sunrise

Cloudless skies made for a boring sunrise. I'll keep trying . . . gives me an incentive at least.



I thought the ripples made by these ducks were kinda neat.

Kapu - No Trespassing

Me and Kona set out early this morning hoping to catch a beautiful sunrise picture, but alas my timing was off, and when the sky was at its best, I was in a crappy location. We'll try again another day. It ended up that "No Trespassing" signs caught my eye today. I was kinda surprised that there were a lot. I dedicate this post to my cyberbuddy Linda who awhile back asked me if there were still "Kapu" signs around.

Just grass from this morning's walk, but I liked how the light was hitting it.

Pineapple Macadamia Nut Bread

I made this a couple of nights ago 'cause I was starving and there was no snack in the house. It turned out kinda dry so I shared my slice with Kona. If I make this again, I'm gonna substitute 1/4 c. vegetable oil for the 3 tbs. butter. I think it'd come out moister that way. The taste was good though.



It was 9 at night when I decided to make it. I kinda wasn't prepared . . . couldn't find the right size loaf pan, so I improvised . . . pretty clever hah?


Worked out great.




Sift together:
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

In a separate bowl cream together:
3 tbs. butter (try use 1/4 c. veg. oil instead and let me know how it turns out)
2 eggs
3/4 c. packed brown sugar

Combine wet and dry ingredients, add 3/4 c. chopped macadamia nuts and 1 c. crushed pineapple (small can), undrained. Pour into loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
