Kale

I bought this Waldorf Salad from R. Field in Foodland.  I thought it looked so good with the candied walnuts and all.   It was $10.99 a pound.  I bought 1/2 pound.   It's made with kale.  You ever ate raw kale?  I had never eaten it before either. And guess what . . .  I'll never eat it again . . . EVER.  It's like eating grass . . . bitter grass.  It doesn't soften . . . no matter how long you chew it.  So it's hard to swallow.  You end up with all this grass-like stuff sticking out of your mouth, and a puzzled look on your face with your mind going, "Whatdahell IS this stuff?"  It's KALE.  Now I know.

Is it better cooked, Les?

I dunno. After I tasted it raw I decided I was done with kale. It probably does taste better cooked, hopefully it takes away the bitterness

I love love love kale...buy it every week at farmers makret...I even make a "dried" kale in the oven... comes out like crispy nori :-}

Yes, jalna...kale should be eaten cooked...sauted or in soup...it is hard to digest raw, much less eat...I don't care for it however it is fixed...hahahaha!!

Didi, Wikipedia says this, "Kale is considered by nutritionists to be the most nutritious vegetable in the world with extremely powerful antioxidant properties." So maybe I will give it another try . . . but not raw.

Funny Betty!

Anon, the walnuts, grapes and apples were great! Hahaha!
