This bag has been sitting on top of our sofa in the lounge at work for like the last 2 to 3 months. It has a lab coat in it. Wonder how much longer it's gonna be there. I'll keep you posted.
I took this picture of Erick using my umbrella/flash setup. I like it, so I thought it was a good one to use to announce that:
Erick won first place in the food category in the recent Okinawan Festival Photo Contest!! Check it out here by clicking on "Winning Photos". Congratulations Erick!!
Himalayan Treasure Inc. opened its doors a couple of weeks ago on September 13 at the University Square, the same complex that houses The Uyeda Shoe Store. I happened to pass by yesterday and was so surprised to see it, as I hadn't noticed it there before. Talk about getting sidetracked. I loved looking at all the different things they had to offer, and a lot of them were very reasonably priced. I was supposed to meet my mom, but luckily her plans had changed completely and she was running a little late, which gave me some extra time to take pictures.
These gentlemen are from Nepal and were so helpful, even getting me a stepstool so that I could take photos of items that were displayed up high. On the left is Shree Gopal Shrestha, in the middle is Sushil Mulepati and on the right is Pramod Chandra Pradhan.
If you're in the area make sure you check them out. It's at the corner of King Street and University Avenue.
I met Nohea's mom Cheryl and her friend Bert at the Garden of Fortune when I returned there to take pictures of Ken Duit, the new owner. Cheryl and Bert were there sharing a coconut . . . yup, one coconut . . . and we got to talking. Bert said that Cheryl was a great cook, especially with Puerto Rican food. I think you already know that food always grabs my attention. The talk then turned to photography and Cheryl mentioned that her daughter Nohea needed to take senior pictures soon, and it was gonna be really expensive. I told Cheryl that I'd be willing to take the pictures, and I'd do it for some Gandule Rice.
Shooting Nohea was an amaaaaazing experience. She brought with her a persona that at once excited and overwhelmed me. All my preconceived, planned out poses flew straight out of the window as soon as I met her. I wondered if there was any way that I would be able to portray her uniqueness. Nohea did it herself. I was just so fortunate to have been there to record it. The Gandule Rice, by the way, was awesome ono!!
Leslie, words cannot express how grateful I am to you for always being there. Thank you so much for lugging my gear, holding the reflector, helping me through technical difficulties, and for just supporting me.
