Salt

I was in Foodland the other day and this section caught my eye. I had to stop and bust out my camera.

Smoked sea salt - doesn't that sound interesting? Sprinkled on some salmon? Sounds good hah?

Kona Sea Salt - less sodium than table salt. Kinda looks flaky.

Himalayan Sea Salt - Primordial (I looked it up - it means having existed from the beginning), Ethically Sourced, Artisan Harvested, Sustainable Sourcing (what does all that mean?). Don't know, but it's the "purest salt on earth".

CQ once paid about $25 for a tiny jar of Truffle Salt. She loves it. She said it imparts a woodsy flavor to food (not exactly her words).

I thought that bottle of Yuzu Kosho next to the truffle salt looked interesting. The ingredients are chili pepper, yuzu zest, sea salt and konbu. Checking online I found out that it's a condiment, though I'm still not quite sure what you eat with it. 10 bucks . . . should I try it?

I wonder if it's worth it.

Thinking the same thing, Les. Too rich for my pocket book. Interesting though...the different kinds of SALT...

I agree, Betty.

I had that at a resturant in Chicago and bought some for home. They used it to top off beef and ahi carpaccio along with some tobiko....yummmmm

That is some expensive salt. Is it saltier than regular salt? I just saw DD said it was good. I believe her more than me.

I wonder, Erick. Someone used to give us salt from Kauai before. Don't know if it was saltier, but I loved the flaky texture.
