I saw this melon at Costco. I'd never seen a "dewlicious" melon before, and I was curious. It was only $4.00. At the checkout the girl said, "That's one good melon!" Then the girl at the door who checked my receipt said, "That's da bomb melon!" I thought, "Wow, I shoulda grabbed two."
At home when I cut it open, it was pale-colored and juicy-looking and . . .
From Marsha--I bought one at the 99 Cent Store yesterday. It had the same sticker as the one in your photo. I have never heard of this variety. It is very good! Tastes like a honeydew but the skin is a bright yellow. Could it be this melon? Check out this site: http://www.specialtyproduce.com/index.php?item=2236&name=Golden_Honeydew_Melon
DEAR SIR, WHAT A FANTASIC YELLOW MELON.I AM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN GROW SOME .THOUGHT IT IS RELATATED TO CANTALOPE,SO WAS REAL LIERY ABOUT EATING A PIECE BECAUSE CANTALOPE GIVE ME SEVERE HEADACHES.BUT WOW NO HEADACHE ,SO HAD MY HUSBAND PICK UP 1/2 DOZEN AT 99 CENT STORE BETTY
I just got one in a summer harvest basket and wondered what it was, so I googled it, and I found your blog....I am glad you had this entry because I had no idea what it was.
I will have it tonight after dinner. Thanks for this.
It's not a Golden Honeydew, it actually is a "Golden Dewlicious", it's a hybrid of a cantaloupe and honeydew, grown only by Fisher Ranch in Blythe, CA. During the right season (usually june-august) you can find them in Wal-Mart and Costco. If you get it when it's ripe, it's really sweet. And a little secret - if it isn't quite ripe when you first cut into it, cut it into pieces, wrap it up, and put it in your fridge for a day or 2. I promos it will get a bit sweeter! ;-)

Hi Betty, good luck with planting the seeds! Last summer was the first and last time that I tasted this melon. Hope I can find it again this year.

You're so welcome, T!
