Koko Head Crater Hike

Koko Head Crater is in the Hawaii Kai area. Traveling east on Kalanianaole Highway, turn left on Lunalilo Home Road, then right on Kaumakani Street. Follow the road until you reach Anapalau Street; then turn right and continue to Koko Head District Park. Park in the back lot next to Mike Goes Field. Follow the short dirt path to the right to reach the unmarked trail head.  Click here for more info.

I took this shot at 6:00 p.m. yesterday evening at the foot of Koko Head Crater. From left to right are co-workers Bran, Haunani, Tysha and Jos. Haunani was the only one that had hiked up the crater before, and she said that they'd probably be done in about 45 minutes. I didn't think my knees could handle the steep incline, so I told them to call me when they got down and I'd come back for more pictures.

I got the phone call at 7:45 p.m., one hour longer than expected. Brandee said for me not to come. They didn't want me taking their picture 'cause they were all sweaty and dirty.

Luckily, Jos had her camera with her and I was able to get ahold of the following pictures.

must be something in the water that you folks drink at the office. After work, too. Simply amazing. When you post this kind stuff, it must encourage others to keep active as well.

Ron, it's the love of picture taking that gets me off my butt. Otherwise, I'm pretty sedentary.

Must have been tougher than expected. Remind me never to try it.

Hilarious! I wonder why Tysha's butt is all dirty...I won't ask! It took me super long to do the stairs too cause I freaked out when we got to the bridge :)

Great pictures. The one of the sunset is awesome.

Erick, the biggest problem they had was that it got dark so fast and they only had one flashlight.

Les, Bran was unprepared to go hiking up the mountain and had worn a strapless bra to work. She asked me to duct tape her bra down for her. I did such a crappy job that it looked like she was missing a breast. THAT was HILARIOUS!

Betty, I tried to get some sunset pictures myself but they didn't come out. Jos did a good job.
