Mochiko Fish

Imagine this . . . I don't really like fish. But I loved, loved, loved this dish so much, that I had to stop eating my dinner to set up these pieces so that I could get a shot to post on this blog. The recipe is from Hawaii's Best Local Dishes by Jean Watanabe Hee.

Marinate 1 to 2 pounds mahimahi or other white fish in marinade for 3 to 4 hours or overnight in refrigerator. Wendell said the marinade comes out really thick and pasty, but it waters down after awhile.

4 T mochiko
4 T cornstarch
2 T flour
4 T sugar
1 t salt
2 T shoyu
1 egg, beaten
1 t chopped green onion
1 clove garlic, minced

Heat about 2 T of oil in a pan and fry fish on medium heat. It was really good, something like mochiko chicken.
