You first have to dissolve the sugar in water.
After cooling the liquid you add the mochiko. I tried to do an action shot for you for a change. . . not too easy trying to pour with one hand and keeping the camera steady while shooting with the other hand. I should bust out the tripod but I'm too lazy.

After blending everything together you pour the batter into a microwave safe bowl and microwave.
And here's da gau. My microwave must be strong or something 'cause I had to adjust the time to 5 minutes at high, 5 minutes at 75% and 5 minutes at 50%. It still came out kinda chewy but that's how I like it anyway.

Now that I see it, I remember that I have had gau and I didn't like it. Haven't had any in a looooong time, though.
wow.. cool action shots. You managed to keep the camera steady and get the stream of flour into the bowl. I've always heard of the microwave recipe but never tried it. Thanks for sharing pics of the process. The gau looks very yummy.
